African Safaris in KwaZulu-Natal are a once in a lifetime experience.
Adventures and day trips can be planned to accommodate your needs and abilities. Action day adventures can include exploring a game reserve on Horseback, 4 x 4 Off road Routes, Hiking Trails, Mountain Bike Trails, microlight Flights and Safari drives. We do not actually take you on the tour ourselves rather we bring you in connection with experienced guides who offer these services.
Safari drives: Explore a game reserve on horse back and view giraffes and zebras from only a few paces in the Weenen and Spionkop game reserves. These especially scenic game parks without malaria offer the possibility for day trips, an especially interesting option with a guide. Trails through the parks are especially rewarding regarding game sightings.
4 x 4 Adventures: There are many back roads here which make for delightful 4x4ing
Why not stay in our delightful little guesthouse in the foothills of the Drakensberg from which you can base yourself for spectacular wildlife and african safaris. This thatch cottage is a charming and romantic retreat for any visitor with itís wooden interiors. The name of this cottage comes from a previous "resident" who lived beneath the floor boards before restoration. Here you will find that comfort & hospitality are part of the whole experience of The Antbear. A truly unique stay. A revisit will be a must as Antbear has a perfect recipe for relaxation. Here you have the option to have all your meals, bed and breakfast or to self-cater. And meals are part of the surprises at the Antbear has on offer.
Here you can also have an opportunity to participate in farm activities, enjoy a sun downer at the dam, view snowcapped mountains in the winter time while having dinner & wine beside a warm crackling fire in the lounge. This cottage is within an hours drive from most Drakensberg resorts. Situated on a hill with breathtaking views of the mountains and surrounds this country guesthouse overlooks the Bushman's river, which rises in the high Drakensberg near Giants castle and meets the Tugela north east of the small town of Weenen. There is lots to do and see in the area from horse riding, game viewing, bushman paintings, hiking, fishing and lots more. The midlands meander, a craft route almost beginning on our doorstep offers wonderful arts and crafts.
